آپ ﷺنے فرمایا:
جو کوئی اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتا ہے ، وہ خیر کی بات کہے یا خاموش رہے ۔ اور جو شخص اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتا ہے ، وہ اپنے پڑوسی کا احترام کرے ۔ اور جو آدمی اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتا ہے ، وہ اپنے مہمان کی عزت کرے ۔ (صحیح مسلم،۱۷۳)جو کوئی اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتا ہے ، وہ خیر کی بات کہے یا خاموش رہے: یہاں مراد یہ ہے کہ جب کوئی شخص معاملاتی یا مذہبی معاملات میں ، اللہ تعالیٰ اور آخرت کے احکامات کو اپناتا ہے تو وہیں ایمان کی بنیاد پر خیرات کہنے کا اہتمام کرے۔ اگر خیر کہنا ممکن نہ ہو تو وہ خاموش رہے، یعنی نیک روی پر عمل کرتے رہے بغیر احتیاطی باتیں کرنے سے اجتناب کرے۔
